Surströmming

Do you want to try something truly Swedish, unique – and unforgettable? During late summer, we invite you to a traditional surströmming experience at our farm, as long as the stock lasts and only during the surströmming season, which usually starts in August.

This is an outdoor activity (understandably, due to the smell) held in a relaxed, authentic setting on the farm. We set the table in true Swedish fashion with thin flatbread, boiled potatoes, raw onions, sour cream, and, of course, surströmming – the fermented delicacy from Norrland that both scares and fascinates.
The surströmming ritual is not just a meal – it’s a cultural experience. We will tell you about the traditions surrounding the food, how to "survive" the first bite, and why Swedes actually think it tastes good.
