Local, homemade with love.

At Åbergs Gård, we strive to work as locally as possible. We also serve food made with local ingredients – from breakfast to dinner, including our cozy theme evenings. Everything is homemade and seasonally adjusted with great care.

Our bread is homebaked by us using flour from the local mill, Orsa Kvarn. The eggs come directly from our own chickens and quails. The meat also comes partly from our own breeding – such as our pigs, rabbits, and chickens – and partly from local producers.

Our dairy products, such as cheese, milk, cream, and yogurt, are sourced from the small-scale dairy, Hansjö Mejeri. Our homebaked pastry are made from scratch with ingredients from the region: milk and cream from Hansjö Mejeri, flour from Orsa Kvarn. We also make our own ice cream and whipped cream.

Even the soft drinks we sell come from the local brewery, Mora Bryggeri. Vegetables, fruits, and berries come largely from our own garden – and you can really taste it!

We continue to invest in becoming even more self-sufficient to offer our guests even more honest and homemade treats.

Several of our local products are also available for sale at the farm – in our little self-service shop. Want to place an order? Feel free to contact us by phone or email.

Our story

Åbergs Gård Familie Perpet - Van Hove

We are Maarten, Karen, Saar, Lotte, and Lize – a family that dared to follow their dream.

In 2022, we left Belgium to start a new chapter in Sweden. Here at Åbergs Gård, we've found the peace and quality of life we longed for – surrounded by forests, lakes, and the quiet of nature.

We are Maarten, Karen, Saar, Lotte and Lize – a family that dared to follow its dream.

In 2022, we left Belgium to start a new chapter in Sweden. Here at Åbergs Gård, we have found the peace and quality of life we had longed for – surrounded by forests, lakes, and the natural stillness.

It has always been Maarten’s great dream to open a B&B – a place where guests are not only offered a good night’s sleep, but also get to enjoy truly delicious food from morning to evening. He loves being in the kitchen, creating honest meals, working in the vegetable garden, and preparing meats and charcuterie the traditional way.

Karen is the family’s creative engine, who with her eye for detail and warmth, transforms every meal and every corner of the farm into something personal and beautiful. When Maarten comes up with a new idea, it’s Karen who brings the dream to life – from the table setting to the delightful baked goods that often await at the end of the day.

And our three little bundles of joy – Saar, Lotte and Lize – are always ready to welcome our guests with big smiles and spontaneous energy.

Many of our guests describe how quickly they feel at home with us:

"Wonderfully welcoming and authentic atmosphere –
you immediately feel like part of the family!"

We strive to create a place where you can relax, enjoy good food, and feel truly cared for.

As one of our guests so beautifully put it:

"The best breakfast we had on our entire trip!"
"Beautifully decorated rooms and a sense of calm that fills the entire stay."

Åbergs Gård is more than just a place to stay – it’s a place where heart and homeliness come together. Welcome home to us.

The history of Åbergs Gårds

Åbergs Gård is located in the heart of Åberga and has been an important part of the village's life for generations.

The farm once belonged to Anders Åberg, son of Per Åberg – a foreman from Kallmora who worked in the village's grindstone quarry. Anders was one of three brothers (Per, Erik, and Anders), each of whom received their own farm from their father. Åbergs Gård was built in 1909 and was home to three generations of the Åberg family until 2003.

Åbergs Gård also had small-scale industry: a steam engine was used to bend bamboo for the bases of cross-country ski poles. Some of the molds from this time are still preserved as a memory of the farm’s creative history.

In addition to the industry, the farm supported a traditional rural life, with cows, horses, and chickens.

The farm was passed down to the next generation – and many of the sons carried the same name: Anders Åberg. It is said that it was a tradition in Åberga for firstborn sons to often be given this name.

Today

Today, Åbergs Gård continues in a new form – as a personal bed & breakfast and a place where people can gather and feel at home.

We welcome guests from near and far to enjoy the peace, nature, and homemade food made from the farm’s own and local ingredients.

During the summer, we also invite guests to "Sommar i Åberga" – our cozy gathering spot where homemade pastries, live music, and togetherness take center stage in our charming barn.
