Ice skating & kick sledging
- winter joy for everyone -
Gliding across the plowed ice on Orsasjön is a magical winter experience for both beginners and experienced skaters. Between Orsa Camping and Kråkberg in Mora, a 15 km long ice skating track is prepared, perfect for long-distance skating with wide views over the Siljan area.
Ice conditions vary throughout the season and are regularly updated by Orsa Mora Skating. On their website, you can check the ice status and find information about rental of skates and safety equipment.
Sparkåkning, or kick-sledding, is a traditional Swedish winter activity where you use a kick sled to glide across the ice. It’s a fun and easy way to enjoy the winter landscape, especially on plowed ice tracks.
In Mora and Rättvik, you can rent kick sleds directly on the ice when conditions allow. This makes it easy to try the activity without needing your own equipment.
If you need gear, you can visit Fritidsbanken in Mora, where you can borrow skates, helmets, and other winter equipment for free for up to 14 days. Fritidsbanken works like a library for sports and outdoor equipment and is open to everyone.
