A fäbod is a traditional summer settlement where, in the past, people would move with their livestock during the summer to let them graze freely in the forests and mountains. Today, many of these fäbodar continue to live on as vibrant cultural environments – and they are fantastic excursion destinations for the whole family.

Östra Grunuberg, the nearest mountain farm from Åberga, is a true gem. Here, you can meet Karl-Gustav, who is happy to share stories about life on the farm, show you the animals, and sell homemade delicacies. The atmosphere is genuine and peaceful – perfect for a break from everyday life.
Another tip is Ärteråsen, which offers both a traditional fäbod environment and a fantastic hike up to the lookout tower on the height above. From the top, you get a panoramic view of the forests and mountains – a memory for life.
